Parliament Security Breach: Unraveling the Identity of Mahesh Kumawat, the Sixth Suspect and the Reasons Behind His Arrest

“In connection to the Parliament security breach case on December 13, Mahesh Kumawat, a resident of Nagaur in Rajasthan, was arrested by the Delhi Police. Identified as the sixth accused, Kumawat had been in contact with the other suspects for the past two years, collaborating on the conspiracy. He was implicated in the plan to breach Parliament security, assigned to stand at alternate gates with canisters, though he failed to enter during the incident.

The arrest followed extensive questioning, and Kumawat was presented in court on Saturday. According to police reports, he played a role in the conspiracy and had actively destroyed mobile phones to eliminate evidence. Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, Neelam Devi, and Lalit Mohan Jha were previously arrested in connection with the same case.

During the breach, Sagar Sharma and Manoranjan D entered the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery, releasing yellow smoke and shouting slogans before being halted by MPs. Simultaneously, Amol Shinde and Neelam Devi released colored smoke and chanted slogans outside the Parliament. Lalit Mohan Jha, the fifth accused, shared videos of the protest on social media.

Kumawat is expected to be interrogated alongside the other accused. He assisted Lalit Mohan Jha in destroying mobile phones to conceal evidence and participated in the overall conspiracy. The prosecutor asserted that Kumawat’s questioning was crucial to uncovering the entire conspiracy, seeking custody for 15 days. The defense contested the police application, claiming Kumawat’s arrest violated his fundamental rights.

The Delhi Police charged Kumawat with destruction of evidence and criminal conspiracy. Additionally, he was associated with the now-deleted Bhagat Singh Fan Club page created by the accused. Kumawat reportedly aided Jha in staying in Nagaur after the incident. He surrendered along with Lalit Mohan Jha on Thursday night and was subsequently handed over to the Special Cell. Kumawat’s Instagram account suggested a strong inspiration from Bhagat Singh and Chhatrapati Shivaji, featuring posts with slogans like ‘inkalab zindabaad’ and ‘agar desh mein kranti lani hai to khud krantikaari hona chahiye’.”
