In the age of social media, reaching the milestone of becoming “Instagram official,” marked by a couple posting their first photo together on the grid, holds significant importance. Selena Gomez, however, has introduced a unique twist to this concept through a series of comments on the platform where she references and defends her rumored beau, Benny Blanco.
Despite the absence of an official confirmation regarding their relationship status through a grid post, public statement, or any other means, Gomez recently engaged with various Instagram posts this week. Notably, she commented “facts.” on a Thursday post from the Popfactions account addressing speculations about her relationship status.
“He holds an irreplaceable place in my heart,” she expressed in one message. “His treatment surpasses that of any other person on this planet,” she affirmed in another. A subsequent comment, purportedly from Gomez, subtly compares him favorably to her ex-partners, including Justin Bieber, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Zedd, and Nick Jonas: “He’s still superior to anyone I’ve ever been with. Facts.”
On her Instagram Stories, Gomez shared a black-and-white photo of herself nestled against a man whose chest strongly resembles Blanco’s. In the following slide, she wrote, “Just a reminder of how much I appreciate and love each and every one of you.”
In another Story photo, Gomez showcased her left hand adorned with a ring featuring a jewel-encrusted letter B. Notably, more than one of Benny Blanco’s names begins with B.
Since 2015, Blanco and Gomez have collaborated on multiple tracks, including her recent release, “Single Soon,” which she has publicly clarified is not about her past relationship with The Weeknd. Gomez has been forthright about her relationship status in the past. In June, she shared a video at a recreational soccer game, shouting towards the players, “I’m single! I’m just a little high-maintenance! But I’ll love you soooooo much!”
